DPD - Olympic NewsDPD's dedicated Olympics Project Team was formed last year to ensure that we are ready to respond to the challenges created by this summer's Olympic and Paralympic Games. Those preparations are now well underway and we are in a position to share a detailed action plan with our customers.
It is clear from our close liaison with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and Transport for London (TfL) that we are likely to experience severe congestion in a number of areas in and around London from mid July to mid September, although we expect there will also be disruption outside those dates due to the Torch Relay, testing of the Olympic transport infrastructure and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
There are many statistics associated with both events that help explain the scale of the congestion:
24 Olympic venues across London 800,000 spectators on peak day 10,500 athletes 9,000,000 tickets sold 21,000 press people in attendance 3,000,000 additional transport trips on the business

Latest DPD Bulletin - 9th December 2011Service Update
After a very difficult day with high winds, we are pleased to confirm that all linehaul vehicles departed to and from Scotland yesterday.
Although some Scottish postcodes were inaccessible yesterday we are attempting to deliver in all postcode areas today. Adverse weather conditions have hit Scotland
We are anticipating further bad weather moving in but at this stage we are working as normal.
Inverness and Highlands & Islands are currently badly affected by snow , which will have an adverse effect on service. Channel Islands and Offshore destinations have backlogs due to the cancellation of ferries, however our agents will work over the weekend to clear this.
All DPD depots will be operating on Saturday and Sunday to clear the backlog created over the last 48 hours.
We have a minor backlog in London which will be cleared by close of play Saturday - all other parts of the UK are operating as normal.
